Victoria Chapter Bids on Skal International World Congress 2013


VICTORIA (British Columbia – March 5, 2009)

Skal International Victoria recently submitted its bid to the organization headquarters in Spain to host the 74th Skål International World Congress in 2013. Founded by French and Swedish travelers in 932, this organization represents more than 25,000 international travel and tourism professionals, 500 clubs in 80 countries. Potential visitors to the 2013 Congress could number more than 1500 delegates.

According to Skål International Victoria President Allison Partridge, “Victoria is the perfect destination for this Congress given that its members are passionate about travel, tourism, and hospitality, all things that our wonderful city and island offer like no other place in the world. We now have xxxx months to provide a full-scale presentation to the International Board in order to convince them that we have the amenities, facilities and location. (Who decides and how.) ”

The Victoria Skål bid has the complete support of Tourism Victoria. As CEO and President, Rob Glalloreto explains, “Victoria is a proven destination for large scale conferences, most recently hosting the International Congress and Convention Association comprised of more than 800 meeting planners in November 2008 and receiving the host destination award for he 2013 Humanities and Social Sciences Congress representing with more than 10,000 attendees expected. We’re certain our city will live up to its history of far surpassing visitor’s expectations.”
